What I saw on Peter’s ride…Canfield Mountain in May…

A growing boy…just turned 17…another big milestone in a boy that is growing up way to fast.  Not sure if either of us are ready for that:)

Peter thinks he wants more freedom…more choices to make on his own.  We have already given him the basic skills that so many young men don’t have.  He knows how to do laundry… cook…sew…clean a toilet…and  yard work. He works two jobs…has to pay for his own gas and must get good grades.  Sometimes we have conflict, most of the time we work through it.  Choices are what I worry about the most…the kind from peer pressure.  So we  decided to spoil him for his 17th birthday…yep bought him a Scott Sparks 35 mountain bike:)  My goal is to keep him pedaling… in the mountains where he luvs being with nature and not having any worries of any kind.

He wanted me to come with him…to see what the trails were like…to spend some time together is what I thought…really it was because he wanted me to take some photos of him:)  Funny as the time has come when the kiddos are proud of the pictures I take of them…and that makes me feel good!

Peter rode…I walked the trails…it was a beautiful day to spend with a good kid…nice to see the mountains are his joy.  Pete knows the reason for the bike wasn’t just a gift…but so much more.  We want to continue to support him in his good choices of life…

He is skinny…a great technical rider downhill…a great rider up hill…just not so much on the flats = not enough body weight is what he says:)

So this thing called parenthood really is good…most of the time…I would follow Peter over the hills and through the woods every day…if I could just keep up.

I have this saying on my wall by the stairs:  “There is always music amongst the flowers in the garden, but our hearts must be still to hear it…”  Peter’s music is the wind going downhill on his bike while going through the mud puddles…always has been and always will.  What is your music and can your heart hear it?  xo
